About Yoga Therapy of Michigan and Our Yoga Therapist
Suzanna
Ran, B.S.Ed., A.P., E-RYT 500, is a Yoga Therapist,
Yoga Teacher Trainer and Ayurvedic Practitioner,
with four decades experience in yoga, fitness,
wellness and Ayurveda. She began her yoga journey at
age twelve, when she attended her first Sivananda
y
oga practice with her mother. Although she could
stand on her head till the cows came home, she found Savasana (corpse pose) to be quite difficult. Her
active (rajasic) nature proved very strong, which
led to her first career in fitness and wellness, in
the U.S., England and Israel. She designed and
conducted Isreal’s first Aerobic Instructor Training
and Certification program at the prestigious Wingate
Institute in 1983.
She returned to the study of yoga as a means of
healing from injury and illness after nearly 30
years of intense physical activity. She received her
RYT200 just one year after a diagnosis of M.S. and
degenerative disc disease and became a teacher of
Ashtanga Primary Series and Vinyasa Yoga at the
Center for Yoga in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She
also assisted Jonny Kest with his Yoga Teacher
Training program, Although she enjoys the challenge
and creativity of vinyasa yoga classes she found
herself expanding her direction towards the study of
and challenge Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda.
She received her RYT500 in Yoga Therapy with Ananda
Seva Mission in Santa Rosa, California in 2007 then
earned a Certification in Yoga of the Heart® for
cardiac patients from Abundant Wellbeing in 2008 and
the LIfeForce Yoga Practitioner Level 1 for Yoga and
Depression in 2010. In 2011, she studied with DeAnna
Batdorff and received an Ayurvedic Practitioner
Certification through the dhyana Center for Health
Sciences in Sebastapol, California. She has also
received additional training in Yoga Anatomy with
Leslie Kaminoff and Structural Yoga Therapy and Ayur-Yoga
Therapy with Mukunda Stiles, completing more than
1000 hours of study in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda.

Yoga Therapy Immersion Training in her home studio
and is under contract with the University of
Michigan, Department of Kinesiology, to provide Yoga
Teacher Training programs and workshops through
